A blood pressure monitor, also called a sphygmomanometer, is a device used to measure blood pressure. It typically consists of a cuff that wraps around the upper arm, a pressure gauge to display readings, and a valve to inflate and deflate the cuff. The cuff is inflated to stop blood flow, and as it's slowly released, the pressure gauge indicates the systolic (top) and diastolic (bottom) blood pressure readings.
